Artha Pottery

Artha Pottery is run out of Flat No 702 on the 7th floor of our building in Malad East. We are right opposite the Samna Parivar Building. It’s a bit unusual to have a pottery setup in an apartment, but we make it work. There’s clay in the corners and the wheel takes up a good chunk of the living space. We spend our days getting our hands dirty and waiting for things to dry. The view from the 7th floor is actually quite nice when the sun starts to set. It’s not a commercial factory or a big retail store. It’s just a home-based studio where things are made slowly. Sometimes the kiln makes the place a bit too warm, so we have to keep the windows wide open. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy display case. If you come by, you’ll probably see half-finished mugs and bowls sitting on every available surface. It’s a bit messy, but that’s just how pottery is. We’ve been here for a while, and the neighbors have mostly gotten used to us carrying bags of clay up the elevator. It’s a quiet, practical way to work. We aren't trying to sell a lifestyle; we’re just making pots in a flat in Malad. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from morning till night. We keep a few towels by the door to make sure we don't track clay into the hallway.
