Apasarjanam Foundation

Our place is way up on the 25th floor in Mahim. It’s the Balgovinddas Road area, which stays pretty crowded most of the time. Being near Ruparel Law College makes it easy for people to find us, though traffic near the college can be a real headache in the afternoons. The view from this high up is something else, you can see quite a bit of the city skyline from the windows. But inside the office, it’s just the usual setup. Apasarjanam Foundation has been around this part of Mahim for a while. We have a lot of stairs to deal with if the power goes out, but luckily that doesn’t happen too often. We spend our days mostly handling requests and talking to locals who have questions. It’s a lot of coordination and typing. The team we have is small. We eat lunch together around a cramped table when we can find the time. Sometimes it’s quiet, other days everyone is talking at once and the phone won't stop ringing. It’s just how it goes here. We don't use big words or have fancy meetings. We just sit down and figure out what needs doing for the day. Living and working in Mahim means you get used to the noise and the constant flow of people. We’ve got a lot of files piled up on the shelves. Sometimes the computer acts slow and we have to restart it twice. We just keep moving through the pile. It feels like a real community around here. People drop in without calling.
