Aavshya Foundation

Aavshya Foundation is based out of Dahisar West. We are in the Dahisar Accord building, specifically room B/101. It’s right on J. S. Rd, near Gomant Nagar. If you know where Rustomjee Arcade is, we are just a short walk from there. The area is quite lively. We’ve got a small team here. It’s not a shiny office with a receptionist. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just lets people in. We have a few desks squeezed into the space and a lot of folders. The building is one of those typical Mumbai housing societies where everyone knows everyone else’s business. It makes it feel more personal, I guess. We spend our days answering calls and trying to organize our projects. Sometimes we get distracted by the noise from the street, but you get used to it. Dahisar has a specific feel to it, a bit slower than town but still plenty busy. We started this because we saw things that needed fixing in our own backyard. We don’t have a massive budget or a fleet of cars. Most of us take the train or the bus to get here. It’s just a practical place for us to meet and work. We keep things pretty straightforward. There’s always a packet of biscuits open on the table and some half-finished notes. We just do what we can with what we have from this little flat in Dahisar Accord. It’s not much, but it’s enough for what we are trying to do. Sometimes we forget to turn the lights off, but we are learning as we go.
