Vishant Marble

Our place, Vishant Marble, is easy to find because we are near Balaji Mandir on Borawar Road. You can hear the bells from the temple sometimes during the day. It’s a nice enough area to work in. We have various types of stone piled up. Some of it comes from nearby and some from further away. Borawar Road gets busy with tractors and local traffic. We mostly just sit and wait for people who are building their houses to come by. We show them what we have and they decide for themselves. We don't push anyone to buy. That’s not how we do things. The shop is basically a large yard with a small roofed section. We keep the ledger on a wooden desk that’s seen better days. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there isn’t much formality. We drink a lot of tea and talk to the drivers who drop off the slabs. Sometimes we have to help with the unloading if the help is late. It’s physical work and your hands get rough from the stone. But it’s a living. We’ve been near the Mandir for quite some time now. People know us as the marble guys on this stretch of road. We don't do any big ads. Just a sign and the stone itself. We keep the yard open most days of the week for whoever stops.
