Mootha Marbles

We are located out on the Bypass Road in Borawar. It’s a good location for us because the big trailers can get in without too much trouble. We deal mostly in marble here. The shop is really just a large open area where the slabs are leaning against the metal frames. It gets very dusty, especially when the wind blows across the bypass road. We spend a lot of our time watering down the stones so that the colors and the veins show up better for anyone who comes to look. Without the water, everything just looks white and chalky from the dust. It’s just a few of us working here. We handle the sales, the loading, and the paperwork ourselves. There’s no big corporate structure or managers here. If you come by, you’ll probably see us in the middle of moving a heavy stack or talking to a truck driver. We’ve had this place for years and we’ve seen the road get busier and busier. It’s a tough business because the stone is so heavy and fragile at the same time. You have to be careful with every piece or you lose money. We don't use any fancy sales talk or marketing. We just show you what we have in the yard today. If you like it, we can talk. If not, that’s fine too. We just keep things moving and try to stay busy every day.
