Down here on Bye Pass Road, near the bus stop at Pulia Phatak, things stay pretty dusty most of the time. That is just how it goes when you are dealing with stone in Makrana. Nikhar Marbles & Company has been sitting in this spot for a while. We see a lot of people coming and going because of the buses nearby. It is a loud area, with trucks passing by the bypass and the usual noise from the town. We are right in the middle of Nagaur district, which is famous for this kind of work. We spend our days moving slabs and talking to folks who stop in. Sometimes the heat gets to be a bit much, but we have our shade and our water. It is not a shiny office or anything like that. We have stacks of marble and a few desks. It is honest work. My family has been around this area for years, so we know everyone around the Pulia Phatak area. You get used to the white dust on your shoes. We don't have a big team, just enough people to manage the yard.
