Manish Marble Centre

Manish Marble Centre is tucked away at G-78 in the Riico Industrial Area of Bidiyad. We’ve been here for a good while, and the place has seen a lot of changes. Working in the stone business in Rajasthan means you have to deal with the heat and the dust every day. Our unit isn't the biggest one on the block, but we keep it busy. We have a few guys who help with the loading, and we spend a lot of time just organizing the slabs so people can actually see the patterns. It’s hard to keep things clean when there is marble cutting going on nearby. We drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade during the middle of the day. The office is just a small room where we keep the books and take phone calls from people asking about prices. Most of our day is spent outside, though. You get to know the truck drivers who come through the industrial area regularly. They bring news from other towns while we wait for the cranes to finish their work. It’s a repetitive job, honestly. You move a stone, you cut a stone, you sell a stone. But there is something nice about the weight of it and how the marble looks once it’s polished up. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just our spot here in G-78 where we work.
