M K R Marble

Our place is easy to find because it’s right by Pir Ki Darga. People use the Darga as a waypoint, so we just tell them to look for the piles of marble nearby and they usually find us. It’s not a huge setup, just enough space to keep our stock and a small area for cutting if someone needs a specific size for their project. The sound of the water-cooled saw is pretty much the background music of our lives here. We get a lot of local contractors and homeowners who are just looking for a few slabs for a kitchen or a bathroom. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, and my boots are always white from the marble slurry that pools on the ground. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room with air conditioning. You usually just find us out back with a measuring tape or a crowbar moving things around. Sometimes business is slow and we just sit by the road watching the people going to the Darga on foot. Other times, three trucks show up at once and it’s a total mess for a few hours while we unload. We just take it as it comes. The stone we have changes depending on what we can get from the suppliers, so the yard looks different every month. It’s just a regular local business trying to get the work done without too much fuss. We’ve been here a while and know the regulars.
