Even though the name says private limited, it is just a bunch of us working hard at Plot No E-223 in the Riico Industrial Area here in Bidiyad. Our yard is usually full of slabs leaning against each other. It takes a lot of care to move them without any chips or breaks. I spend most of my time walking between the office and the stacks, making sure everything is where it should be. The sun hits the white stone and it can be quite blinding in the middle of the day, so we all wear hats. We have been in this spot for a good while and have seen the industrial area change around us. New shops open up and others close, but we just keep doing our thing at E-223. The trucks come in through the main gate and the cranes get to work lifting the heavy stuff. It is a noisy place, with the sound of engines and metal clinking against stone all day long. When someone comes in asking for a specific type of marble, we just take them out back and start flipping through the slabs. There is no polished sales talk here, just looking at the material and seeing if it fits what they need. We close up when the light fades and do it all again the next morning. It is a long day but we are used to the rhythm of the yard.
