Jitun Marble

Our place, Jitun Marble, sits right at Plot No. 78-A on Mangalana Road. It’s pretty easy to find since we are quite close to the Head Post Office. Being near the post office means there’s always people moving around this part of town. We’ve been working out of this yard for a while now, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. We get the stone in, we stack it up, and we wait for folks to come by and take a look. The Mangalana Road can get pretty dusty and crowded, especially when the big lorries are trying to turn around, but that’s just part of being in this trade. We don't have a flashy office or anything, just a desk and some chairs where we talk to customers about their projects. Most of the time, we’re outside showing people the different patterns in the marble slabs. Every piece of stone is a bit different, so it takes time for someone to pick the right one for their house. We try to be helpful without hovering too much while they’re looking. It’s a lot of standing around in the sun and moving heavy things, but we like being part of the local community here. If you walk past the post office and keep going, you’ll see our stacks of marble piled up. It’s just us doing our daily work, trying to make a living like everyone else on this road.
