Hanuman Marble

Hanuman Marble is located right on Gunavti Road. It’s quite close to the railway station, so you can always hear the trains coming and going throughout the day. That sound is just part of the background for us now. Being near the station makes it easy for people to find us, but the road gets crowded with people and rickshaws. Our yard is filled with different kinds of marble blocks. It’s a noisy place between the trains and the sound of stone being moved around. We start the day early, usually before the first big trains pull in. The dust settles on everything, so we’re always cleaning off the faces of the slabs so people can see the patterns in the stone. It’s heavy work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the week. We don't have a glossy catalog or anything. You just come by Gunavti Road and see what we have sitting out. Sometimes the trains are delayed and the whole area gets quiet for a bit, which is nice. Then it picks right back up again. We’ve been here a good while, just handling the marble and talking to the folks who stop by. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The station is a good landmark if you’re looking for us, just follow the sound of the whistles. We just stay busy with the stone and the daily deliveries.
