Let's talk about the bypass road. It's always busy. We see trucks going past all day long. Our yard is right there in Makrana. If you’ve ever been here, you know the white dust gets on everything. It’s just part of the life. We handle a lot of marble. It comes in these massive blocks and we have to figure out how to cut them to get the most out of them. My father started this and now I’m here doing the same thing. We don't have any fancy brochures. You just come by, look at the slabs leaning against the racks, and decide what you like. Some days the sun is really beating down on the stone and it’s hard to look at it without squinting. We spend a lot of time just moving things around with the old crane. It squeaks a bit but it gets the job done. We deal with all kinds of people, from contractors to families building their first home. Most of them are just looking for something that fits their budget and looks decent. We tell them what's what. No sense in lying about stone, it is what it is. If there’s a crack, we show it to you. We just want to get the trucks loaded and out on the road so we can start on the next batch of blocks. The tea we drink here even tastes like stone dust most days, but you get used to that too.
