Nagaur Marbles

Nagaur Marbles is situated on Makrana Road in Borawar, right near the Agarwal Petrol Pump. By being on Makrana Road, we are right in the heart of the stone trade for this whole region. Everywhere you look, the area is famous for its marble. Our yard stays pretty full most of the time. Because we have so many blocks and slabs stacked up, we spend hours just moving things around to get to the ones we need. To most people, the petrol pump nearby is just a landmark, but for us, it’s how we tell drivers where to go. Often, the air in Borawar is white with dust from the nearby cutting and polishing. Inside our small cabin, we keep the ledgers and handle the necessary paperwork. It’s definitely not a fancy setup. Out in the yard is where we spend the bulk of our time. We look at the patterns in the marble and discuss where each piece might have come from. Even though the heat in this part of the country is harsh, the marble always feels surprisingly cool. Throughout the day, we work steadily and take short breaks when the sun gets too high. No big speeches or marketing plans happen here. Dealing with the stone and the people who come to buy it is what we do. We watch the trucks pull in and out all afternoon. It’s a life built around the local quarries and the road that carries the stone away.
