Som Vaishno Dhaba

Som Vaishno Dhaba is located at Shop Number 66 in Kamla Nehru Market. Since we are so close to the Ludhiana Railway Station, we get a lot of travelers coming in hungry after their trains arrive. It is a small spot, nothing too fancy to look at, but we keep the stove going and the food ready. Being in 141001 means it is always crowded around here, especially with the market right outside our door. We mostly cook the usual stuff you would expect at a dhaba. There are no menus with pictures or anything, just what we have made fresh for the day. My family and I handle most of the work ourselves. Sometimes the tea runs out or we get a bit backed up when a big group walks in, but we do our best to get the plates out. People usually sit where they can find a chair. It gets hot in the kitchen, especially in the summer months, but that is part of the job. We have been in this market for a good while now. Most of our regulars are the shopkeepers nearby or people waiting for their next train. We do not do any fancy advertising; people just see the sign and come in. It is just a simple place to eat a meal without spending too much. We focus on the cooking and keeping the tables wiped down between customers. It is just how we have always done things.
