Dhandas Amritsari Shop

We are located at Gill Arvind Estate 14. This is a small shop where we make Amritsari food. It’s mostly kulchas and things like that. We use a traditional tandoor, so it gets very hot in the back. The smell of fresh bread is always around. We don't have a lot of space for people to sit down. Maybe three or four small tables at most. Most people just take their food home in paper bags. My brother does most of the cooking while I handle the counter and the money. We’ve been here for a few years now. It started small and stayed that way. We like it like that. We don't have a big menu. We just do a few things and try to do them right every day. Sometimes we have a long line in the afternoon. People have to wait, but nobody seems to mind too much. We use a lot of butter, which is the secret, I suppose. The floor is a bit uneven and the walls could use some paint. But the food is what matters. We aren't fancy people. We just work hard from morning until we run out of ingredients. It’s a good little business in a busy part of town. We’re happy to be here.
