V Granites

Down here in Village-Kotchampalli, things move a bit slower than they do in the big cities. V Granites is basically just a part of the landscape here at No:8. We are surrounded by a lot of open space, which is good because granite takes up a lot of room. When we first set up, there wasn't much around us. Now, you see a few more sheds popping up. The work is mostly about the stone. We spend a lot of time checking the slabs for spots or cracks that shouldn't be there. It’s not always easy work because the sun hits the yard hard in the afternoons. We have a small group of workers from the village who have been with us for years. We know their families and they know ours. It’s that kind of place. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone answering phones in a suit. If you call, you're probably talking to me or one of the guys near the saw. The noise can be loud when the machines are running, so sometimes we miss a call. We just try to get the orders ready on time, though sometimes the transport from the quarries gets stuck on the narrow roads. It’s just how it goes out here. We like the quiet when the machines are off. It’s an honest way to make a living, working with something as solid as rock every single day without much fuss.
