Rockstar Granites

We’ve been running Rockstar Granites for a while now, right here on the Pondicherry High Way. If you’re heading down Thiruvanna Malai Road, you’ll see our yard near the Mariyamman Kovil temple. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially with all the trucks moving back and forth towards Anchoor Post. Our place in Jagadevi isn't anything fancy, just a lot of stone slabs stacked up and a small office where we sit. Most days it’s just us moving the granite around with the crane or talking to people who stop by because they saw the sign from the highway. The dust gets everywhere, and the sun hits the stones pretty hard in the afternoon, but that’s just how it is working with heavy materials like this. We keep ourselves busy. Sometimes people get lost looking for the temple and end up at our gate instead. We just point them in the right direction and get back to work. It’s a straightforward business. We have different types of granite, some local and some from further away, and we spend most of our time measuring pieces or checking for cracks. It isn't a quiet job, what with the cutting machines and the traffic noise from the main road, but we like being out here. It feels like we’re part of the neighborhood, even if it’s mostly just highway and fields around us. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the place over the years. Anyway, we just stay focused on the daily work.
