Stella Maris International Boarding School

We are located up here in Koodaranji, right in the Calicut hills. It is quite a quiet spot most days, except when the kids are moving between classes or out on the field. Stella Maris International Boarding School has been part of this Kozhikode landscape for a while now. The boarding life is pretty straightforward. Students wake up early, get their breakfast in the hall, and then head over to the main building. We see a lot of rain here in this part of Kerala, so umbrellas are always lined up by the door. The classrooms are just normal rooms where people learn, nothing too fancy or modern. Sometimes the fog rolls in from the hills and you can’t even see the gate from the front office. It’s a busy place but it feels like a small village in its own way. Many of our staff have lived on site for years and they know every corner of the grounds. The kids come from different places, bringing their own bags and stories with them. Mostly, it’s about getting through the lessons and making sure everyone is fed and has a bed to sleep in. The weekend schedule is a bit slower, giving everyone time to just sit around or play a game of football. We try to keep things running, even when the power goes out during a storm. It’s just how life goes in Koodaranji.
