Irulam High School

Our school is right on the Irulamkenichira Road, which is a busy path for people moving through Wayanad. Being in Irulam means we are surrounded by a lot of trees and the air is usually quite cool in the mornings. Irulam High School is a place where we all know each other's names. We have several blocks of buildings, some older than others. The walk from Kenichira can be long for some, so the school is a main meeting point for the kids. We spend our time managing the classes and making sure the grounds are kept relatively tidy. It is not always easy, especially when the monsoon hits and everything gets damp. The staff room is usually crowded with notebooks and half-empty tea cups. We do not have any high-tech gadgets or fancy lounges. The benches in the halls are made of solid wood and have been there since I can remember. We keep the gates open for the students coming from all over Irulath. There is a lot of noise during the lunch hour, which echoes through the hallways. We just focus on the daily schedule and making sure the bells ring at the right time. It is a simple life here on the road to Kenichira, and we like the rhythm of it. We just keep the doors open and do our work.
