Peace International School

We started this school on the Kozhikode Bengluru Road. It's a pretty busy stretch of road but inside the gate it gets a lot quieter for the students. We spend most of our days working with the kids in the classrooms. Most of us on the staff live nearby in Murikel or just a short bus ride away so we know the local families quite well. The school building is simple and doesn't have any of those modern glass walls you see in cities. It's just solid walls and desks that have seen better days. We teach the usual subjects like math and science. We try to keep the kids focused on their books but sometimes they just want to look out the window at the cars going by towards Bengaluru. The playground gets a bit dusty when it hasn't rained in a while. We have a few trees where the children eat their lunch. It’s a very normal place with no fancy extras. We deal with the usual problems like broken pencils or kids forgetting their lunch boxes. Parents come by in the evening to pick them up and we have a quick chat about how the day went. We don’t have a big office or anything. It's just us and the students trying to get through the syllabus. It's a long day for everyone but we like the routine of it all. We have been here for a while and the building has become like a second home to most of us.
