Presidency College of Engineering

This college, Presidency College of Engineering, is located out on Jhalawar Road in Kota. If you know the area near Ipb-21, you’ve probably seen our gate as you drive past. It’s a large place because engineering needs a lot of room for labs and all that equipment students use. Being in Kota, things are always a bit fast-paced because everyone is so focused on studies here. We spend a lot of time just making sure the schedules are followed and the labs are actually working. Some days the heat in Rajasthan makes it tough, but the ceiling fans keep spinning. It’s not a glamorous life running a college, mostly it is paperwork and checking if the students are attending their lectures. We have a mix of teachers, some young and some who have been doing this for decades. The building has seen a lot of students pass through over the years. We don't put on a show for anyone, we just provide the space and the teachers for the degree. The canteen food is okay, mostly just dal and rice, but it keeps everyone going. We don't have many trees for shade around the building, so it gets pretty bright during the afternoon hours. It can be stressful during exam season, the whole atmosphere changes and everyone gets very quiet. On regular days, there is a lot of tea drinking in the staff room and talking about how to get the syllabus finished.
