Travel Consultancy

Our little office is tucked away on Chowringhee Lane. It’s one of those parts of Kolkata that feels like it has a lot of history in the walls. Travel Consultancy isn't a big agency with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us sitting around desks covered in maps, folders, and old notebooks. People come to us because they want to go somewhere, and we spend our time looking at schedules and trying to figure out the best way to get them there. The building we are in is quite old, so the ceilings are high and the walls are a bit thick. Sometimes the fans don't quite keep the heat away in June, but we manage. We spend a lot of time on the phone or typing away on old keyboards. Chowringhee Lane is always full of life, with people walking by and the smell of street food coming in through the windows. We don't do much advertising. Most of the people who come in are friends of people we helped before. It’s a lot of talking and checking things twice to make sure nobody gets stuck somewhere they don't want to be. It’s honest work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city. We just like helping people figure out their trips. It’s quiet in the mornings, which is when I like to get most of the paperwork done before the phone starts ringing.
