Suyash Prakashan

Suyash Prakashan is based at 20 A, Adwaia Mulick Lane. If you have ever been down the lanes in this part of the city, you know how they have a very specific feel. It is a bit cramped but full of life. Our building is an older one, and we use the space to handle all our publishing work. The air usually smells a bit like paper and ink, which is something we have all grown to love. We don't have a modern office with glass walls; it’s more about stacks of books and manuscripts piled on desks. It can look a bit messy to an outsider, but we know exactly where everything is. The lane is too narrow for much traffic, so it’s mostly just people walking by and the occasional rickshaw. We know the people who live in the houses nearby, and it feels more like a home than a workplace sometimes. We spend our hours editing, checking proofs, and making sure the printing process is going okay. It’s a lot of manual work and attention to detail. We don’t use any fancy software to manage our lives; we just rely on our experience and a lot of handwritten notes. Working at 20 A is about being part of the local history of publishing. We just come in every morning, navigate the narrow lane, and get to work on the books that we care about.
