Ananda Learning Center

Ananda Learning Center is based out in Behala. It’s a place where we spend our days helping students and whoever else wants to pick up a new skill or study their lessons. The building is simple, just a quiet space away from the main noise of the street. We started this because there seemed to be a need for it in the neighborhood. People around here know us as the spot where the lights are on late during exam seasons. It’s not a huge institution with shiny glass walls, just a few rooms with desks and chairs. We keep things pretty informal. If a student is struggling, we just sit down and go over it until it makes sense. The walls are a bit plain, maybe we should paint them one of these days, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. Most of the folks who come here live within walking distance in Behala. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us teachers and the kids. Sometimes parents stop by to chat about how things are going with their children's progress. We try to keep a steady schedule, though sometimes things get a bit hectic when everyone arrives at once in the afternoon. It’s a lot of paperwork and planning, but that’s just how it goes. We’ve been in this part of town for a bit now and feel like part of the furniture. It is just regular work.
