Simran International

Simran International operates out of Alanga Menssion on J.M. Avenue in Kolkata. We are up on the third floor in Flat A6. It’s one of those old buildings with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it somewhat cool in the summer. Getting up to the third floor is a bit of a climb, especially when it’s hot outside. The hallways are narrow and you can hear the sounds of other families and offices through the doors. J.M. Avenue is a very busy street with trams and buses constantly rattling past. We do a lot of international work from this small space. Our desks are piled high with papers and ledgers. We have been here for a long time, and the mansion has become very familiar to us. Sometimes the lift doesn't work, so we just take the stairs. It is not a modern glass office, but it has a lot of character. We handle all the shipping documents and correspondence from here. You can see the rooftops of North Kolkata from our windows. It is a gritty, real part of the city. We don’t have a lot of fancy furniture, just what we need to get the job done. Most of our day is spent typing and talking on the phone. It is a quiet office in a very loud part of town. We like the history of the place. It feels like home now.
