Rishi Photography is based out of Subhash Nagar Park. It’s a nice spot because of all the trees and the open space nearby. Often, we just take our gear outside because the light is better near the park than it is inside the small studio room. We’ve got a lot of cameras and tripods leaning against the walls, and there’s always a few memory cards lying around on the desk. Photography is a lot of waiting for the right moment and then spending hours staring at a computer screen to fix the colors. It’s not as glamorous as people think it is. Most of our work comes from families in the neighborhood who need photos for weddings or birthdays. Sometimes kids come in for school portraits and they won't sit still, which makes the job a bit of a challenge. We don't use any of those fancy marketing tricks to get customers. Usually, someone just sees a photo we took for their neighbor and asks for our number. The office is a bit cramped, especially when we have a lot of equipment out for a big job. We try to keep things simple and just focus on taking a decent picture. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when we’re rushing to finish an album for a deadline. We just like capturing things as they are without making them look too fake or overly polished.
