Ronit Boral Photography

Ronit Boral Photography is tucked away in the Camac Street area, specifically near Jalapenos. If you know the neighborhood, you know it can get pretty lively, especially in the evenings. We like being in this part of town because there’s always something to look at, which is good for what we do. The studio isn’t huge, but it has enough room for the gear and a space to sit down and go over photos. We don't have a big reception desk or a bunch of assistants running around. It’s usually just us, working through the latest set of images or cleaning the lenses. Camac Street has a certain energy that you don't find everywhere else, and we've tried to let that settle into how we work. We don’t go for the overly polished look in our own space. It’s a bit lived-in, with some boxes in the corner and maybe some coffee cups on the table. It feels more natural that way. We spend a lot of time waiting for the right light or trying to fix a small detail that most people wouldn’t even notice. That’s just the nature of photography. Being near Jalapenos means we have good landmarks to give people when they’re trying to find us for the first time. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers recognize us now. It’s a nice feeling, being part of the local scene without having to be the center of attention.
