About Ronit Roy Photography – Photography in Kolkata
Being located at 34/2B B C Street, right near the Tala Post Office, makes it easy for people to find us for their photos. The studio isn't huge, but we have enough room for the backdrops and the lights. Most of the time, I’m out on the street or at an event, so the shop might be locked for an hour or two while I’m away. Photography is mostly about waiting for the right light and hoping the batteries are charged. I started this in a small room and slowly moved here to B C Street. You can hear the mail trucks coming and going from the post office next door all day. I spend a lot of time sitting at the computer editing shots until my eyes get tired. It’s not just clicking a button; there’s a lot of carrying heavy bags and setting up tripods in cramped spaces. People come in for passport photos or sometimes to talk about their wedding plans. I keep my old cameras on a shelf just to look at them. It’s a bit of a messy workspace with cables everywhere and prints drying on the side. I don't follow any corporate rules, I just take the pictures and hope the clients are happy with how they look. It’s a local life, meeting different families and being there for their big moments. The walls have framed shots of neighbors and friends from over the years. It’s just how I like to work.
