Raja Bazar Science College

Located over in Subhas Nagar, right near the Matri Sadan Hospital in Kolkata, our college is tucked into a busy part of the city. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets around the hospital, with people coming and going at all hours. We’re part of that daily rhythm. The building is older, with that specific look you find in West Bengal, and it feels like it’s seen a lot of history. Students are always rushing through the corridors, usually talking about their next lab or complaining about the heat. It’s a science college, so there’s always a bit of a smell of chemicals or old paper hanging in the air, which I guess is just part of the atmosphere. We don't try to make things look perfect for visitors; the walls might need a fresh coat of paint here and there, but the equipment works and the benches are sturdy. That’s what matters to us. Most of the staff has been here for years, and we’ve seen generations of kids pass through. We drink a lot of chai from the stall around the corner during our breaks. It’s a very grounded place. We don’t have fancy brochures or a PR team. If you want to know about the college, you just come by and talk to the people in the office. They’ll tell you exactly how things are without any fluff. It’s just a solid place for learning.
