National Gems Higher Secondary School

We have been here at 4/5 A K Paul Road for quite a while now. Most people in Behala know where we are because we’re right opposite the Kolkata Blind School. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the buses start pulling in and the parents are dropping off their kids. The building has seen many classes come and go through these doors. Our halls get pretty loud during the breaks, but that is just how it is with a school full of children. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes the rainy season makes the walk down the road a bit tricky with all the puddles. It’s a local place. Most of the staff lives nearby, so we see the families at the market or around the neighborhood even after the final bell rings. We have the usual classrooms, a place for sports, and the labs that have been updated a few times over the years. It isn’t fancy, but it works for the families here. You’ll see the kids sitting out front waiting for their rides home in the afternoons. The gate stays open until late because there is always something going on, whether it's a meeting or someone finishing up their work. We just keep doing what we do every day, making sure the kids have their books and the teachers have their chalk. It's just a regular part of life here in this corner of the city.
