Jadavpur University

This office of Jadavpur University is tucked away at 8, Kalabagan Lane in Kolkata-700033. If you are coming from the main street, you might miss the turn if you aren't looking closely. The lane is mostly residential, so it feels a bit more relaxed than the bigger campus areas. We have been operating out of this building for a while now. The rooms have high ceilings which helps when the Kolkata humidity kicks in during the summer months. There is an old wooden desk near the front where someone usually sits to greet visitors. We don't have a big sign out front, just the address 8, Kalabagan Lane. Most of the work here involves keeping track of records and handling the administrative side of things. In the mornings, you can hear the sounds of the neighborhood waking up, people washing floors and the bells from the local temple. We usually start around ten and keep at it until the evening. The light in the hallway is a bit dim, but we know our way around well enough. It is a quiet spot, which is nice for getting through a lot of paperwork without too many distractions. Sometimes the mail arrives late, or the water cooler acts up, but we manage just fine. It feels like a small community inside this house. We aren't trying to be anything big or flashy here, just doing the work that needs to be done every day. We close up exactly at five and head home.
