Jadavpur University

This branch of the university is situated at 146A in Laketown, Block-A. It is a different vibe from the main campus, being tucked into a more residential part of North Kolkata. The building is not brand new, but it serves its purpose for the classes and administrative work we do here. We have a few rooms set up for lectures and a small area for the staff to sit. It can get a bit stuffy in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through from the lake nearby. We see a mix of students coming in for various courses. Some are local, others travel a fair distance. There is always someone looking for a specific form or trying to find a professor. We try to keep things moving, though the bureaucracy can be slow sometimes. It is not a polished, high-tech environment. We use old wooden desks and the shelves are crammed with files that have been there for years. We are just a small part of a much bigger university, but we handle the day-to-day stuff for this area. The neighborhood of Laketown is busy, especially near the clock tower, but our block is slightly quieter. We do not have a big marketing budget. We just focus on the teaching and the students who show up every day. It is steady work that keeps us busy.
