Icche Dana

Icche Dana is our little business located at 596 Daskshindari Road, in the Laketown area. The building is called Poonam, and we are near Laha Bagan. It’s a quiet enough corner of the city compared to some other parts. We focus on travel plans and helping people get away for a bit. We don't have a big staff or a corporate office. It's just a couple of us working out of this space. We spend a lot of time on the computer and talking to hotels or transport people. It isn't always exciting work, but we like it. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream. We just give them the facts about where they are going. If a road is blocked or a place is too crowded, we say so. Our office is a bit lived-in, with tea cups and papers everywhere. It feels more like a home than a business sometimes. People from the Laketown neighborhood usually just drop by for a chat before they decide on a trip. We don't do much marketing. We just rely on people knowing we are here at Laha Bagan. Sometimes we get overwhelmed when everyone wants to travel at the same time, like during the Durga Puja holidays. We just do what we can. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it for a while now without much drama.
