Rasapunja is a bit out there, but we are right on Bakhrahat Road in the Joka area. The college building sits there among the trees and the local shops. It is a fairly simple setup with classrooms that have seen plenty of students over the years. You can hear the buses and the rickshaws passing by on the main road all day long. It isn't a quiet library atmosphere all the time. Sometimes the dust from the road blows into the front gate. We have a small area where students hang out during their breaks, and the staff room is usually full of half-drunk cups of tea and stacks of marking. It's a working college, nothing more and nothing less. We don't have a giant campus with fountains or anything like that. It’s just solid walls and concrete floors. The weather around Joka can be quite humid, so we keep the windows open mostly. Most of the people working here have been around for a long time and they know the neighborhood well. You might see us standing by the gate in the morning as everyone arrives. It’s just a regular routine for us. We handle the admissions and the classes and the exams without needing any big corporate mission statement to get us through the day. It is just about getting the job done for the people who live around here. The building is old but it works for what we need.
