City College

City College is one of those old spots in Kolkata that everyone seems to recognize. We are located in the 700075 area, right in the thick of things. The streets around us are always crowded with people, yellow taxis, and vendors selling all sorts of things. The building itself has that classic look with high ceilings and heavy doors that have seen better days. Inside, the fans hum loudly during the summer months to keep the humidity away. Students come from all over West Bengal to sit in these classrooms. It is a bit of a maze if you are visiting for the first time. You might find a few students arguing about politics or exams in the corridors. The walls have layers of old paint and posters stuck on them. It’s not a quiet place at all. You can hear the city noise from the windows all day long. Getting here can be a bit of a struggle during the monsoon when the roads get flooded, but that is just how Kolkata is. We don't have a big fancy campus with grass everywhere; instead, we have the actual city right at our doorstep. Most people just grab a tea from the shop at the corner and head inside. It’s a very grounded kind of place where things move at their own pace, and it feels like a real part of the history of this town. It has been there for generations and will likely stay just like this for many more.
