Our office is located in Everest House on Chowringhee Road, specifically at 46C and 6D. It’s a well-known building in the Midleton Row area. We spend most of our time here coordinating the movement of granite from the quarries to various sites. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking schedules on the computer. The building is older, but it has a lot of character and we’ve been here long enough that we know all the other tenants. We aren't a huge operation with hundreds of employees. There’s just a small team of us handling the logistics and the sales side of things. Sometimes it gets a bit stressful when a shipment is delayed, but we try to stay calm and figure it out. We don't have a showroom here because the slabs are way too heavy for an upper-floor office. Instead, we show people samples and photos of the different types of granite we can source. It’s a practical way to do business in the city. We keep a kettle for tea and usually have some biscuits to share if a client stops by. The view of the street from our windows is actually quite nice, though it can get noisy with all the taxis honking. We’ve been doing this for a while and we just try to be straightforward with everyone we deal with. No fancy talk, just granite. It is a steady way to make a living in this city.
