Running a photography place here in Calcutta keeps things pretty busy most of the time. I’ve always liked taking pictures of things around the city, and eventually, it just turned into a job. Avik's Photography isn't some massive studio with fifty employees; it’s mostly just me and a bit of help when things get hectic during the wedding season or festivals. I spend a lot of time walking around the different neighborhoods, looking for good spots or meeting people who want some photos taken. The weather in Calcutta can be a bit tricky for outdoor shoots, but you get used to the humidity and the sudden rain. I keep my gear ready and try to capture things as they are. It’s not always perfect, and sometimes the lighting is tough, but that’s just how it goes with real life. I do a bit of everything, from small family gatherings to just random shots of the streets. My workspace is simple, just enough room to look through the images and do some basic editing. I don't go for anything too dramatic, just honest photos that show what’s happening in front of the lens. People around here know me, and I usually get work through word of mouth. It's a nice way to make a living, even if it means carrying heavy bags around the city all day. The traffic here is always a mess, so I usually take the metro to get to shoots faster. Sometimes I stop for a snack at a local stall between jobs. It’s a long day, but I enjoy it.
