Boon Crafts

Our workshop is at A7/5/1, Satyen Park in Behala. It’s tucked away in a residential lane, so it’s quite peaceful most of the time compared to the main road. Inside the rooms, it’s a different story. There are tools, wood scraps, paint pots, and fabric everywhere. We make various handcrafted items here. It might look like a total mess to someone visiting, but we know exactly where every tool is kept. We spend our days cutting, sanding, and assembling pieces. My hands are usually stained with ink or glue by midday. We have a few craftspeople who sit together and work on different orders while chatting. Sometimes we have a big deadline and we’re working late into the evening with the radio playing in the background. Behala is a busy part of Kolkata, but Satyen Park is a bit more laid back for us. We don't have a formal showroom or anything like that. If someone wants to see what we do, they just come into the workspace and look around. It's practical and honest work. We make things that we like, and luckily, other people seem to want them too. We deal with a lot of local suppliers for our raw materials like wood and beads. Sometimes we run out of a specific color and have to rush to the market.
