Bm Birla College Of Nursing

Our place, Bm Birla College Of Nursing, is tucked away in Rasapunja on Bakhrahat Road in Kolkata. It is a bit of a drive from the main city center, but it stays busy because of all the nursing students coming in and out. You will usually see a lot of people in white uniforms walking around the grounds or heading toward the practical rooms. The road outside can get really messy when it rains, and the traffic on Bakhrahat Road is always a bit unpredictable, so we tell everyone to leave early. Inside the building, things are usually kept quite clean, though you might catch the smell of disinfectant from the labs. We have a staff room where we keep our bags and have our lunch while talking about the day’s schedule. The classrooms are simple with plain chairs, and we have a few anatomical models sitting in the corners of the rooms. It is a lot of hands-on work here, so the students are always on their feet. We spend a lot of time checking their clinical logs and making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be. It is a quiet enough area of Kolkata once you get inside the gates, even if the city is loud just beyond the walls. We just focus on the daily tasks and making sure the students have what they need to get through their training. It is a practical, hardworking sort of life here for everyone.
