B.G. Industries

Our office is on the first floor of number 35 Netaji Subhas Road, right in the heart of Kolkata. If you know this area, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the traders and old buildings. We’ve been here at B.G. Industries for a long time. The building itself is one of those old ones with high ceilings and a narrow staircase that’s seen better days. Inside, it’s mostly just us and a lot of files and samples. We deal with industrial supplies, and being in this part of the city means we are close to all the other markets. It’s a lot of manual work, checking lists and making sure the right items are sent out to the docks or the rail yards. The fans in the ceiling hum all day long to keep the heat away. We don't have a website that’s updated every day or a fancy lobby. Most of our business happens over the phone or through people who have been buying from us for decades. It’s the kind of place where you get a glass of water if you come in from the heat. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. Sometimes the rain during monsoon makes the street outside turn into a river, and we have to put sandbags at the door, but that's just part of life here. We've got a lot of stories about the people who used to have offices in this building.
