Vidhya Dhanam Public School

If you go into Mattancherry, you will find us at 6/1039. Vidhya Dhanam Public School is right there in the thick of things in Ernakulam. It is a very old part of town. The streets are narrow and there are tourists walking by all the time looking at the old buildings. Our school fits right in because it isn't brand new either. The walls are thick and the windows are the old-fashioned kind. It stays relatively cool inside even when the sun is hitting the street hard. We don't have a big playground because space is tight in this part of the city. The kids play in the courtyard or the small spaces we have available. It is a noisy area, with bikes and carts passing by. We are used to it though. The teachers here know the local history well. Some of them grew up just a few streets away. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment. We mostly use books, paper, and pens. It is a practical way of doing things. We see people from all walks of life around here. Sometimes the salt from the sea air makes the paint peel a bit faster than we like. We just patch it up and keep moving. It is a busy, humble little school in a very famous part of Ernakulam.
