Ravindra Bharathi Global School

Our school, Ravindra Bharathi Global School, is tucked away at Lotus Villa in Nandambakkam. It’s No 137/1 if you’re looking for it. Being in Kudiyiruppu means we are right in the middle of a residential area in Chennai. It gets quite hot during the summer months, but that's just how life is here. We have a lot of kids from the nearby streets coming in every day. The building is basically a large house that we converted so it feels more personal than those huge, cold institutions you see elsewhere. Most of the people working here have been with us for years. We aren't trying to be the biggest school in the city. We just want to make sure the children who come here get their lessons done and have a safe place to play. Sometimes the playground gets a bit dusty when the wind picks up, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We deal with the usual school stuff—lost sweaters, forgotten lunchboxes, and making sure the fans are working in the classrooms. It’s a lot of work keeping everything running, but we enjoy the routine of it. We see the same faces every morning at the gate and it’s nice. It feels like we are just part of the neighborhood fabric now. If you walk by, you’ll probably hear us doing morning prayers or just the general noise of kids being kids.
