Government Higher Secondary High School

Government Higher Secondary High School is out in Injambakkam, located at Vidhyashram Gardens on the East Coast Road. This area of Chennai is a bit more open, and being near the ECR means we get a bit of a coastal breeze sometimes. The school caters to older students who are finishing up their higher secondary education. The grounds are situated in Vidhyashram Gardens, which gives us a bit of a buffer from the main road traffic. It is a fairly large building because we have to accommodate many different classes for the teenagers. You will see students standing around the entrance in the mornings, chatting before the bell rings. The classrooms are basic with wooden benches and ceiling fans that run all day. We have some science labs and a place for the students to sit during their breaks. It isn't a fancy private institution, just a regular government school where teachers show up to do their jobs and students come to learn. The address is easy to find since it is a well-known part of Injambakkam. There is always some maintenance work needing to be done, like fixing a leaky tap or painting a wall, but we manage. Life here revolves around the exam calendar and the seasonal weather changes. It is a practical place for students from the surrounding villages and suburbs to get their diplomas and move on to whatever is next for them. Most people in the area recognize the building as they drive past.
