Govt Mahathma Gandhi Senior Secondary School

Ramapuram is a busy place these days. Our school, Govt Mahathma Gandhi Senior Secondary School, is tucked away on 6th Cross Street in EVP Santhosh Nagar. If you walk down 2nd Main Road, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a plain building, nothing fancy to look at, but it gets the job done for the kids around here. We’ve been at No 43 for a while now. Most mornings, you’ll see parents dropping off their children and a bit of a crowd at the gate. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of teachers talking and chairs scraping on the floor. We have the usual classrooms and a small area where students hang out during the break. The neighborhood has changed a lot, with new houses and shops popping up everywhere, but the school stays pretty much the same. We don’t have those big fancy shiny lobbies you see in private schools. It’s just whitewashed walls and wooden desks that have seen better days. Some of us have worked here for years and we know the families in Ramapuram quite well. When it rains, the street gets a bit muddy, which is a bit of a pain for everyone. But that’s just how it is in this part of Chennai. We keep things simple and try to make sure the day goes by without too much trouble. It’s a place where work happens, and that’s about it.
