New Netaji English Medium School

We are located on Pattala Street in Little Kanchipuram. If you know the area, you know the streets are a bit narrow and always have something going on. Being in a place famous for its temples and silk, there is a certain rhythm to life here that we are part of. Our school is a modest building tucked into the neighborhood. It is not some massive private campus. We have children coming from the houses right on this street and the ones nearby. Most of the teachers walk to work because they live close by too. The mornings start with the sounds of the neighborhood waking up—vessels clinking and people talking—and then our school bell joins in. Inside, it is just rows of desks and blackboards. We don’t have air conditioning or anything fancy, just the ceiling fans that work hard all day. The kids learn their lessons and play in whatever space we can find for them. It’s a very local atmosphere where parents stop by to talk to the staff without needing an appointment. We have been here for a good while, so we’ve seen a lot of local kids grow up and move on to college. It is just a steady, simple school that serves the people living in this part of Kanchipuram. Nothing more, nothing less. The walls are covered in student drawings and the floors are swept every single evening after everyone has gone home.
