Samannay Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based out of Maihati village, right near Soneswar in the Kamrup district. It is mostly farming land around here and has been for as long as anyone can remember. Dhrubajyoti Deka and Mahendra Deka were the ones who got this whole thing started. They wanted to find a way for the local farmers to work as one group instead of everyone just struggling on their own. Most of us here have been digging in the dirt since we were boys. It is hard work and the sun can be really unforgiving in the middle of the day. We are not a big corporation with fancy offices or people in suits. Our office is just a simple place in the village where we sit down and talk about the crops and the prices. Being a producer company helps us get things done that we couldn't do alone. The roads in this part of Assam are not always the best, especially when the rains come and everything turns to mud. But we are used to that. We just focus on the soil and what it grows. We do not have any big mission statements or anything like that. We are just a bunch of neighbors in Maihati trying to make sure we can keep our farms going. It is a quiet life for the most part, but there is always something to do in the fields. We hope to stay here for a long time. It isn't always easy but we make do.
