Ekota Mohila Farmer Producer Company Limited was set up by a group of women here in Mugkuchi Village. We are located right on No.166, Hajo Road, which is a busy enough spot for us. We mostly focus on what we can grow and make ourselves. It started because a few of us realized we could do more if we pooled what we had. We aren't professional business people, just women who have always worked in the fields and around the house. The village and the post office area are where we spend all our time. We don't have a polished story to tell. We just get together, decide what needs to be planted, and help each other with the heavy lifting. Sometimes we meet on the porch to talk about the prices or the rain. It’s a lot of work balancing everything, but having this company helps us stay organized. We use simple tools and traditional ways of doing things because that is what we know. People in Mugkuchi know us as neighbors first. We don’t have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just want to make sure our work counts for something and that we can support our homes. Every day brings something different, usually just another chore or a problem to solve together. We keep things honest and plain, just like the lives we lead here on Hajo Road.
