Kutumba Farmer Producer Company Limited

In Saster village, things move at their own pace. We are based at Paresh Baishya’s house, number 85, which is easy to find if you know the Hajo area. Kutumba Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just a bunch of us from the neighborhood who decided to stop doing everything separately. The name Kutumba means family, and that is pretty much how we run things. We are all related or have known each other since we were kids. When it is time to sow or harvest, everyone chips in. We don't have a manager or any high-up bosses, just people who know how to work a field. The house in Saster is where we keep our records and meet up to talk about what seeds to buy next. Kamrup is a good place for farming if you know the rhythm of the seasons. We deal with the heat and the insects and the occasional market slump just like everyone else. There is no polish on what we do. It is just dirty boots, sweaty shirts, and a lot of patience. Sometimes we stay late at Paresh’s place just talking about how the soil is changing. We don't have big goals other than making sure our families are okay and the crops don't fail. It is just life in the village, trying to make it work one day at a time.
