J.Babubhai Jewellers

Our shop is tucked inside the Jenili Shopping Center on M.G. Road. It is a busy spot, especially on the weekends when everyone is out shopping for clothes or food. J.Babubhai Jewellers has been here since the center first opened up. It is not the biggest shop in the mall, but we make it work for us. Most days, we are just sitting behind the glass counters, polishing up the display pieces so they look clean. The air conditioning in the building is usually way too cold, so we keep a sweater handy. We see all kinds of people walking by the window. Some just look and keep going, while others come in to ask about repairs or the current price of gold. We do not have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the trade well. Sometimes the phone rings too much, and other times it is so quiet you can hear the clock on the back wall. We keep our tools in a small drawer under the main desk. It is a bit cluttered, but that is where the real work happens. Fixing a clasp or resizing a band takes a steady hand and a lot of patience. We are not trying to be the flashiest place on M.G. Road. We just want to do our job and go home to our families. It is a decent way to earn a living, and we have made some good friends in the neighboring shops over the years.
