About St Xavier Convent School – Education in Jammu
Our school is situated near the Barnai Ban Talab Road, right on the main road actually. It’s a very visible spot, so we get a lot of noise from the traffic passing by. You can hear the horns and the engines all day long, but after a while, you just stop noticing it. The school has a bit of an old feel to it. It’s a convent school, but we are pretty down-to-earth about how we run things. There’s a lot of walking back and forth between the buildings. The main road is always busy, so we have to be careful with the kids during drop-off and pick-up times. We don’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets in the rooms. We mostly use the old blackboards and plenty of chalk. The teachers are a mix of older staff who have been here forever and a few newer faces. It feels like a small village sometimes because everyone knows everyone’s business. We don’t spend money on fancy websites or big billboards. The building is what it is—a place for classes and a small yard for the students to spend their breaks. It’s a bit worn out in places, but it’s comfortable for us. We just focus on the daily schedule and making sure the kids are where they should be at the right time. Some days are long, especially when the weather is bad, but we just keep at it because that’s what we do. No one expects perfection, just a place to study.
